Classroom walls

I always start with clean, empty walls in my classroom and then, I like to fill them up. Also our closet door is a big mirror so, I like to cover it as soon as I can. My children love to stare at the mirror a lot! :)
Here is a sample of what we have up so far:
Colors (we add 2 colors at a time, with the kindergarten I ask them which colors are missing on the mirror: negro, gris & morado)
Family: we started family this week, we introduced la casa, we will continue with family next week.
Our feelings wall, I love it!:

Feelings cont.

Today we reviewed feelings. We selected 4: estoy feliz, estoy trite, estoy enojado y estoy sorprendido. Each child tape their pictures under the corresponding feeling and then; on the other side of the wall we taped a sign that reads: "Hoy estoy". each child had a chance to say how they felt and put their corresponding picture under the sign. We will do this every class.

Family, Feelings, Numbers

This week we'll be reviewing feelings, numbers 0-10 and introducing family: el papa, la mama, la hermana, el hermano, el bebe, la abuela, el abuelo.

I usually put all the materials in the middle of the oval, to let the children know what are we going to do that class.

First, we reviewed feelings learned last week. We draw the feelings in a blackboard; each child had a chance to draw eyes, nose and mouth. Here are some examples:

Then, I introduced family with the flashcards and reviewed numbers from 0-10.

Shapes practice

For practice on shapes we did the Shapes clown activity. Attached is the video of the children following directions to make the clown out of shapes. The children on the video have been taking my classes for a year now, twice a week, so they know shapes, colors and body parts.
With the new children I will say the body parts in English.

Shapes

This week we reviewed colors and continued with shapes.
For colors we made a rainbow, a color by number picture. Very simple but fun and lots of colors practice. The colors are as follow:
1 rojo, 2 anaranjado, 3 amarillo, 4 verde, 5 azul and 6 morado.
Here is the picture:
For shapes we reviewed triangle, oval and heart then we made a fish with those shapes. Actually we needed one heart (for the mouth), one oval (for the body) and three triangles (for the fins and tail). Each kid made their own fish. Here is the picture:

We also traced some shapes using this printout. I will post pictures next week.
